Cartagena Colombia Arriving & the Girls are Screaming
Postcard Update: Cartagena Colombia Arriving & the Girls are Screaming! Cartagena.
So after a few days in Bogota, it was time to get back to the sun, many Colombians had recommended Cartagena on the Pacific coast. I flew with a Chilean airline, which for $60 flow direct so very reasonable. On arrival, I jumped in a taxi to the hotel, this time I double checked the reservation to make sure that it was in a secure location. The taxi driver pulls into the street of the hotel, only to find that it had been blocked by the police. Will Smith was making a film right in the center of town. So I end up having to walk down the crowded streets, a rundown bar filed with street with load Salsa Music, It was very hot I was wearing cloth for the Andes mountain so I was in no mood for dancing with my backpack! then suddenly I was confronted with a clan of screaming girls, obviously because I had just walked into their life, Not, ;-/ it was because will Smith was coming out of the hotel and getting into a security field with 4Runners standing by. I did manage to catch some of this with my go pro so edited down, it’s quite funny!
Cartagena is an amazing city, an old colonial fortress with a 5 mile wall that surrounds the city, it was just wonderful. There are two sections, one is the main city and the other is Getsemani where the slaves once lived, I was living in Getsemani so about a 15 minute walk to the main tourist section of the Fort. The first day I just chill and stayed around my area and did a bit of research as to where and when I could go to stay secure, and indeed places that I must see.
The next day I marched off into the city under the baking sun only to realize after about two hours when I was dying for a drink of any sort that I had left my money in my other shorts, so I returned to the hotel re-hydrated then took long siesta, I decided to stay at night, catch up on some work online updating and checking clients sites.
